New Board Members Join West Holt Medical Services

ATKINSON, NE — West Holt Medical Services recently conducted an orientation training for newly elected foundation board member Stephani McGrew and hospital board member Marsha Thurlow.

During the training, McGrew and Thurlow learned about the organization’s history, laws governing nonprofit boards, how to read financials, bylaws, policies and procedures, and more.

McGrew was elected onto the foundation board in November 2019 and joins Jana Panning (President), Shirli Pacha (Vice President), Karen Nollette Secretary/Treasurer), Brad Rowan, and Penny Keim.

McGrew holds a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from the College of Saint Mary. She has served West Holt Medical Services as an Occupational Therapist since 2012, helping patients regain strength and independence in their daily activities.

“Our therapy building along with several pieces of equipment that I use daily were made possible by donors through the Foundation. These contributions have allowed me to provide the highest quality of care to my patients,” shared McGrew.

“I look forward to contributing to the work of the foundation board and helping to share the impact that donations have on patient care at West Holt Medical Services.”

Stephani has been married to Matt McGrew for nearly five years. The couple have two boys, Kade (3) and Beau (2). The family enjoys camping and traveling with their dogs Josie and Jack.

Marsha Thurlow was elected onto the hospital board of directors in November 2019 and joins Trent Schaaf (President), Bryan Rentschler (First Vice President), John Kramer (Second Vice President), Brendan Borer (Treasurer), Jarrod Hamik (Secretary), Susan Myers, Brett Lieswald, and Lori Olson.

Thurlow is an Office Manager at Agland Electric Motor Service in Atkinson where she has worked for the past eight years.

“I feel that our community is very fortunate to have a local hospital. As a hospital board member, I hope to help keep the hospital thriving so that it can continue serving and caring for the community,” shared Thurlow.

Thurlow grew up on a ranch eighteen miles southwest of Atkinson where she learned the value of good work ethic and helping where needed. She graduated from West Holt High School and completed cosmetology classes at Joseph’s College of Beauty.

Marsha was recently married to Tony Thurlow. She has two daughters, Amanda and Megan and two stepchildren, Tyler and Chelsea. She enjoys spending time with her three grandchildren, Jet, Josie, and Jayde and camping.
