2026 Dolores Batenhorst Keating Scholarships Awarded

The West Holt Medical Services Foundation is pleased to announce the winners of the 2026 Dolores Batenhorst Keating Scholarship, Sidney Burkinshaw, Miya Carey, and MaKenna Schaaf.

Burkinshaw is a 2024 graduate of West Holt High School. She intends to become a Medical Lab Scientist, and will transition from UNK to UNMC this fall.

Carey is also 2024 graduate of West Holt High School. She is on track to become a pharmacist, and will be transferring from Wayne State to UNMC in the fall.

Schaaf graduated from West Holt in 2025, and is working towards becoming a Physician Assistant at UNK.

West Holt Medical Services Foundation began managing a memorial fund in 2010 established in the memory of Dolores Batenhorst Keating. Each year, the annual interest of that fund is used to award up to 3 $1000 scholarships to individuals pursuing a degree in the medical field that meet the criteria.
