WHMS holds Annual Board Meeting

Monday, March 1, 2021

The West Holt Medical Services(WHMS) Board of Directors (BOD) held their Annual Meeting of the WHMS Corporate Board on Monday,  February 22nd, at the Flat Iron Bar & Grill in Atkinson.

Originally scheduled for November, the meeting was delayed due to the prevalence of COVID-19. The delay allowed the meeting to be conducted mostly in person, as nearly all members of both the Board of directors and Corporate board were able to attend. A Zoom meeting was also created for remote participation, and some board members and several WHMS employees were able to take part in the corporate meeting that way.

A key piece of business conducted during the corporate board meeting was the opportunity to recognize out-going BOD Treasurer Brendan Borer. Borer served on the WHMS board for 6 years and was a key part of the leadership throughout some major changes and decisions in recent years. His service has been greatly appreciated and he will be missed.

Borer’s departure left an opening on the board, which the BOD nominated and unanimously elected Tom Dvorak for the vacancy. Dvorak was brought on as a regular member. Brett Lieswald was appointed to the treasurer position vacated by Borer. All other officers retained their positions. They include:

Trent Schaaf, President
Bryan Rentschler,  Vice President
John Kramer, 2nd Vice President
Jarrod Hamik, Secretary

WHMS chief financial officer Jeremey Bauer and CEO Brian Martin made presentations during the annual meeting. Bauer spoke to the financial information for 2019-20 available from the audit conducted by Seim Johnson last fall. He also spoke to some of the achievements by West Holt during the 2019-20 fiscal year. Bauer served as the interim CEO during 2020, and in that role, he played a major role in leading WHMS through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Martin, who took over as full-time CEO in October of 2020, followed Bauer’s presentation with a discussion about the current state of WHMS and how the organization is looking to finish strong through COVID-19 and eager to work with senior leadership and the BOD to formulate a strategic plan for the years ahead.

WHMS would like to thank Flat Iron Bar & Grill for allowing the use of their space for this meeting and everyone’s patience in the delay and the need for virtual participation. Hopefully, the Annual meeting for 2020-21 will be conducted in a more time and manner.
