West Holt Medical Services invites the public to attend its 2nd annual HealthaPalooza, a community appreciation event on Thursday, July 26 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Atkinson Community Center.

This year’s theme is Rock’n Together for Health. This family-friendly celebration will include free food, live music by The OutBack Band, wacky bed races, free swimming at the city pool, bounce houses, and more.

Over 20 booths will be set up for attendees to learn about the top community health resources in the area: Asera Care Hospice, At Your Service In Home Care, Beginnings Pregnancy Resource Center, Bright Horizons, Central Nebraska Community Action Partnership, Elkhorn Meadows, Family First Dental, Good Samaritan Society/Prairie Winds Assisted Living, Heartland Counseling Services, Home Instead Senior Care, League of Human Dignity, Nebraska Total Care, North Central District Health Department, Northeast Nebraska Area Agency on Aging, North Park Homes, O'Neill Care and Rehabilitation, Rebel Health Revolution, Regional 4 Behavioral Health System, Sandhills Cancer Fund, Sandhills Wellness LLC, The Evergreen Assisted Living, The Villa, Weight Watchers, West Holt Health Ministries, and more.

Back by popular demand, Nebraska State Patrol will demonstrate seat belt safety with their rollover simulator. Atkinson Fire and Rescue will offer kiddie train rides and ambulance tours.

New this year, CHI Health Good Samaritan AirCare will provide helicopter tours and the West Holt Medical Services Foundation will host Wacky Bed Races.

The bed races will begin at 6:00 pm in the parking lot of the Atkinson Community Center. Teams of five will compete by pushing beds with a “patient” with hopes of being the fastest. A $150 cash prize donated by the Dvorak Brother Ranches will be awarded to the fastest team. The cost is $10 per person ($50 per team) with net-proceeds benefiting patient care at West Holt Medical Services. Beds and helmets will be provided. Costumes are highly encouraged. Registration forms are available here.

A live broadcast will be aired by KBRX during the event. Sponsors include Faith Regional Health Services, Professional Associates Ltd., Baird Holm, Seim Johnson, The Harry A Koch Co., Great Western Bank, Dvorak Brother Ranches and Holt County Visitors Committee.
